South Africa defeat England 2:2 (0:1) 6:5 PSC
In the match for 15th place, South Africa and England met today, ending regulation time at a two all draw, with South Africa claiming victory in the penalty stroke competition after having forced England into the extra exercise after a two goal lead.
England first scored near the end of the first half after a hard-fought first half hour during which neither team was able to create a significant advantage, and they added another for a two goal lead midway through the second half.
The joy didn't last long however, as South Africa pulled one goal back less than two minutes later, and with four minutes to go forced England into extra time with a Dalan Philipps goal.
Extra time ended without any more goals, and in the subsequent penalty stroke competition, it was the Africans who kept their cool and and scored one more, confining England to the 16th place.
